On March 1, Which Wich was honored with a Marketing Innovation Award at the Chain Operators Exchange (COEX) in Orlando, sponsored by the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA). The first-ever Innovation Awards program recognizes operating companies that are shaping the industry through innovation in culinary, operations, marketing, and service. Which Wich was honored for driving innovation in communications, advertising, or promotions to drive customer attraction and retention, thanks to the unconventional PR campaign surrounding the now-famous Lockjaw incident with Chad Ettmueller.
If you love Which Wich—and we know that you do—may we suggest voting for us as the best sandwich shop in Dallas in D Magazine’s Best of Big D Food & Drink Readers’ Choice Poll? Voting starts today and ends on March 13, and you can vote, like, a lot. Like once an hour—and from your smart phone to boot. Maybe you could set a timer or something, just so you don’t forget. We know that seems like a lot of voting during work hours, but we won’t tell your boss if you don’t tell ours. Thanks for loving us. We love you too.
We admit that we get a little warm in our hearts when Which Wich opens in a new city and it is embraced by the town’s hungry, sandwich-loving denizens. Such is the case in Chicago, where our new store at Block 37 is creating quite a buzz on the lunch scene. Which Wich has been nominated at the Best New Lunch Spot in the Best of Metromix Chicago, so please show your wich love and vote for us (by Sunday, February 27, at 11:59 pm)! Many thanks to the Windy City.
Last year, Which Wich experienced what might be called a happy accident. Frequent diner Chad Ettmueller locked his jaw when attempting to bite into a double-meat Wicked® at the store in Cumming, Georgia. While painful for Ettmueller in the beginning, the end result was warm fuzzies all around. We received quite a bit of media attention, and Ettmueller became the unofficial ambassador of our brand. We are honored yet again that Restaurant Business recognized this wicked encounter in its list of 50 Great Ideas. In fact, we’re no. 1. It’s going to be tough to top that this year! But we’ll give it a try!

You like us. You really like us! For the second year in a row, Which Wich has made it to the WFAA-List, in which users vote for their favorites in 13 categories, including cheap eats, great meals, arts and entertainment, and fashion. After seven years here, our hometown still hearts us, and we can add 2010 Best Sandwich Shop in North Texas to our list of top honors. Yep, that’s a little tear you see in the corner of our eye.
